Hyundai Accent Canada

The Hyundai Accent arrived in Canada in 1995 replacing the popular Hyundai Excel which lasted for 10 years in Canada. The Accent is an entry level compact car which is available in Canada as the Accent 3-door hatchback and sedan, in parts of Europe it was marketed as the Hyundai Pony. The first Hyundai Accent included a 2-door coupe version while they all shared a 1.5L engine, the Accent gained popularity in Canada for first time car buyers and students looking for an inexpensive alternative to the Toyota Yaris and Ford Focus, the Accent has an edgier design. The second generation Accent arrived in 2001 with an upgraded 1.5L SOHC 12-valve engine, while in 2002 it received an optional 1.6L engine. Canada was the only country besides Korea to continue marketing the Accent hatchback which later arrived to the US with the third generation Accent in 2006.

The next generation Hyundai Accent was unveiled in 2005 at the International Auto Show in New York, it was completely redesigned with a curvier exterior line, more spacious interior and an upgraded engine using Continuous Variable-Valve Timing (CVVT) technology which increases torque using less gasoline greatly improving fuel economy. This Accent was the third most sold compact car in Canada, with the Toyota Yaris taking first place and trailing after the Chey Aveo. The Accent also grew in length, while shorter than its big brother Hyundai Elantra. As a small compact sporty car Hyundai launched its first World Rally Hyundai Accent which raced at the World Rally Championship in 2000 through 2003.

Hyundai AccentThe 2014 Hyundai Accent arrived to Canadian dealers in 2011 with a 5-door hatchback and 4-door sedan version, while the 3-door hatchback was discontinued. The Accent hatchback made its world premier at the Montreal AutoShow in early 2011. They both share a 1.6L DOHC D-CVVT engine with GDI (gasoline direct injection), Hyundai made sure to add some of those detailed which are missed in a level entry compact sedan, including 16 inch allow rims, projection beam headlights, bluetooth and ECO drive. Then added Vehicle Stability Management,  Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System with anti-lock braking with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD).
